Our Full Recovery Requires a Business-Friendly Environment, Safe for Employees and Profitable for Companies

Businesses don’t stay away or leave New Orleans because of the risk of floods.  They leave because of a culture of corruption that makes it difficult or impossible to do business here.  They leave because the city doesn’t feel safe for their employees.  And they leave because we aren’t doing enough to make the city hospitable to free enterprise.  I will change all of that, demanding ethical conduct by ALL city employees, by working with the best Police Chief and the District Attorney to send a signal that New Orleans is not safe for criminals, and by working with the City Council and the state to develop incentives and tax breaks for companies coming to or expanding in New Orleans.

-  Negotiate with airlines to increase the number of direct, nonstop flights, expanding opportunities for commerce and tourism.

- Increase neighborhood commercial districts that will include full service restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and other needed services.

- Provide more parking in the French Quarter near the river to attract more visitors to French Quarter businesses

- Make personal calls and provide invitations to CEOs from across the country to recruit more large businesses to New Orleans

- Finish existing recovery projects
